Mosharraf Hossain's education started at home with Munshi teaching him Arabic and Persian. He thereafter enrolled in school and studied Bengali. Kushtia School was where he began his official schooling. His education did not progress much, though, since he later attended Krishnanagar Collegiate School through class five and was accepted into Calcutta's Kalighat School.

Mosharraf Hossain took care of his father's zamindari at the start of his profession. Afterwards, he started working in the Faridpur Nawab Estate, and in 185, he was promoted to estate manager of Delduar. He once quit this employment to go back to Lahinipara. Later, he traveled to Calcutta in search of riches, where he remained till 1903–1909.

Mosharraf Hossain served as the student correspondent for Kumarkhali's Grambarta Prakashika (183) and Sangbad Prabhakar (1831). His literary career is just getting started. He was trained as a writer by Kangal Harinath. In addition, Musharraf edited two magazines: Hitkari (1890) and Ajijannehar (184). One of the most prominent prose writers of the Bankim period and a forerunner of Bengali Muslim writers in the nineteenth century was Mir Musharraf.
Ratnavati, Musharraf's debut book, was released in 1889. Throughout his writing career, he authored numerous volumes on poetry, novels, dramas, essays, memoirs, textbooks, and other subjects. However, novel-like imagination has also been used in the creation of several events and characters. The peasant uprising in Sirajganj in 182-63 serves as the scene for his play Zamindar Darpan. Dynamic prose writing was a specialty of Mosharraf Hossain. His plays and autobiographical books examine the contradictions and issues facing modern society with a critical eye. He was devoid of the mindset of the group. 'Gokul Nirmul Asanka' was his piece that led to his persecution, according to liberals. He was connected to the Council of Bengal Literature. In Padmadi, he was buried for eternity.
